New Best Off-Roader 2014

With an overwhelming 56.2 percent of the vote, the recently re-powered and overtly off-road oriented Jeep Wrangler took 1st place. Toyota's also very capable FJ Cruiser took a distant 2nd with 19.8 percent, while the more passenger-friendly Nissan Xterra came in 3rd with 8.2 percent.
See how the rest of the field did in the full results below and make sure to exercise your right to vote in our next Consumers' Favorites poll.
  1. 2012 Jeep Wrangler
    What Edmunds.com says:
Though more civilized than ever, the 2012 Jeep Wrangler remains a no-nonsense American icon. Its quirky character and unique off-road abilities continue to hold appeal.
  2. 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser
    What Edmunds.com says:
It's not the most versatile choice available, but if distinctive looks and outstanding off-road ability are important to you in a midsize SUV, the 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser is hard to beat.
  3. 2011 Nissan Xterra
    What Edmunds.com says:
The 2011 Nissan Xterra may lack the funky styling and unique features of its off-roading competitors, but it's the easiest to live with on those days when you're not rock-crawling and mud-splashing.
  4. 2011 Toyota Tacoma
    What Edmunds.com says:
The 2011 Toyota Tacoma is a top choice in the midsize pickup segment thanks to its highly capable nature and wide array of configurations.
  5. 2012 Jeep Liberty
    What Edmunds.com says:
The 2011 Jeep Liberty can certainly hack it in the bushes, but it struggles on the pavement. Interior quality and fuel economy also leave much to be desired.
  6. 2012 Nissan Frontier
    What Edmunds.com says:
The 2012 Nissan Frontier is a top pick in the compact-pickup segment thanks to its brawny nature, relatively nimble handling and innovative features.
  7. 2011 Ford Ranger
    What Edmunds.com says:
The 2011 Ford Ranger may have an affordable starting price and decent fuel economy going for it, but its dated design and cramped passenger cabin just can't compete with its more modern rivals.
  8. 2011 Suzuki Equator
    What Edmunds.com says:
The 2011 Suzuki Equator is a front-running midsize pickup, but a relatively small dealer network might complicate ownership.
  9. 2011 Ram Dakota
    What Edmunds.com says:
When it comes to towing, the 2011 Ram Dakota is still top dog among midsize pickups. Unfortunately, the competition trounces the Dakota when it comes to affordability and refinement.
